“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15: 13)
As I sit here tonight unable to sleep and prepare for church services tomorrow. I began thinking about Memorial Day and the sacrifices of men and women that were made for me and my family and this nation of families. Memorial Day, a day that we stop to remember and celebrate the men and women in uniform from the past up to the present day who serve to keep our nation free and help us enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There are no words in my heart that can express my heartfelt thank you and gratitude to you and your families for the sacrifices that you have made and will make in the days ahead to preserve this awesome nation, defending our nation at home and in foreign lands. Men and women who have died and gave up the opportunity to be fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, to grow old and enjoy this great nation! You have given up everything and so many of you in your teens and twenties for me and all our families and our country. I owe you a debt I can never repay, but I will remember your sacrifice, your bravery and your love for your country. I will remember that my freedoms such as freedom of speech have not come from the media. It has come from you the soldier! I will remember that my freedom of religion to read my Bible, to serve my Lord Jesus, to go to church every week without persecution. It has come from you the soldier that takes it to our enemies, that allows me to have the freedoms I have. It is you in all our armed services who fight and pledge allegiance to the flag, who’s coffins are draped by the flag, who I remember and give thanks on this special day, Memorial Day. To those who have given all they could give in their devotion, love and lives. Me and my family says, “thank you” because we would not have the freedoms that we have in this great nation if it was not for you, the soldier! Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers each day!
Love in Christ Jesus!
